NAFADA, A 7-page story, is a metaphorical primer on “shaking off one’s chains” by taking on a purpose as large as humanity. The argument at its heart is that the strongest motivation for self revolution is a preponderance of care for humanity. The goal of this Zine was to develop a digestible piece of writing that can be read in one sitting and inspires the reader to face his demons he may or may not realize he had, head on. The zine was printed on regular printer paper in black and white, and scanned and uploaded as a flipbook online (link on request). This project is meant to motivate activists who are unsatisfied And want to make a positive change in their life and community after witnessing malevolent political unrest.
This zine was created in the spirit that fictional narratives have the power to deploy an empathy within the reader that he or she may not otherwise find and resonate with from non-fictional accounts. ‘Nafada’, in its Zine form, serves as a part one in a longer series.
